Description
This course will focus on the vocal repertoire from the Cyclades, Dodecanese, Northeastern Aegean islands, Crete and more. We will explore the idiomatic characteristics, scales and rhythms that define each of these regions. We will give special attention to proper pronunciation, fundamental to understanding the musicality of the lyrics. Once learning the basic melody line, we will also look at making deliberate vocal variations that give the music its flavor. We will learn exercises to strengthen the voice and breath. § § This course is for vocal students who are already familiar with the fundamentals of singing and their vocal capabilities.
